We think they are very good. Why not give them a go?
We started back in 2012 as a means to help and promote new and exciting writers. We are still here, despite the joys of all things covid, and keen as ever.
In this age of electronic books, the novel and writing, in general, is constantly changing. Since we started, event the electronic book has changed dramatically and it will most probably continue to do so.
Traditional publishing gives a selection process and although sometimes harsh, it is a way to give readers a sense of quality. It also gives a robust editorial service and so published books are generally of a good standard. Yet a list of great books contains many that were rejected, often multiple times, before finding someone willing to take a chance on the future classic. How many undiscovered greats never made it past this publishing screening process?
The electronic version of the book has broken all these barriers down, and so now authors are now able to publish thier works directly. This means no great work need ever remain unpublished. Fantastic. However, reaching a level of quality prior to publication is no longer necessary, so there is a strong downside. Furthermore, the number of books being published has rocketed and any individual novel will most likly find itself lost in the multitude, so finding an audience is no easy task. Often books that manage to find a large audience rely more on marketing strategies and social media presence that any merit of story or even writing quality. Good or bad, fair or unfair, whether we like it or not, this is where we are.
Here at Augustus Books we want our cake and eat it. We want to be able to bring quality to the reader and assist the author in writing and, hopefully, reaching the discerning reader. We select authors in which we have belief. We represent and help them. In this way we hope to help the reader too.
The author writes, we edit, format, advise, get the work online and promote. .

We are not web designers, this is probably obvious, because it is books that concern us, not fancy design and clever tricks. It is books we love and what we have to say can be said without fancy adornments. So if our website is a bit basic, then forgive us, we are more concerned with the books and publishing part of the process. We hope the website is simple and effective and at least a little interesting. The books, we believe, are certainly interesting.
We would also like to mention our gratitude to CoffeeCup Software for thier help and support, not least giving us this website platform for us to do our thing. Their website and software is worth a browse, please see the link below.
Thank you,
Augustus Books.
We will be adding other work as soon as we can.
